Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long and held once a week, especially at the beginning. However, we can decide together what frequency works best for your needs and schedule.
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything you share stays between us, except in very rare situations where there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if legally required.
There are no predefined number of sessions. Though after a couple of sessions, you can discuss the same with your therapist and they maybe able to provide you with a clearer picture.
No. One of the main goals of therapy is to equip the clients with the skills to manage their current circumstances, & develop healthy coping mechanisms that will enable them to be self-sustaining.
No. A well trained psychologist never suggests a solution. They help you through the process of finding a solution for yourself, evaluating the effect of it and in implementing them in your life. You will find a solution while learning the skills to continue finding them for yourself. All this while developing healthy coping mechanisms.
No. Any psychologist, counselling or clinical CANNOT provide medication. Only a Medical Doctor can provide you with medication.
Anytime. If you feel that the sessions are no longer serving any purpose, you can discuss the same with your counsellor and discontinue. Termination is an important aspect of Counselling. It is also a mutual process where the client and counsellor come together and decide that sessions can be discontinued. It is usually done in a gradual manner not instantly leaving the scope for booster sessions (i.e. follow up sessions if needed in future).
